Early Bird Tickets sold out in record time so don't miss out
Dear all,
The final tickets for our first-ever Annual Salon, held in Brussels 12-14 September 2025 are now on sale. Over 40 writers from across Europe have already booked.

Held at beautiful Full Circle in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco district of Flagey, our Annual Salon will feature:
An open mic salon where you’re invited to share your work
Readings and talks from acclaimed writers including Kit de Waal
A day of writing workshops and informative panels
A walking tour of Brussels with Brussels by Foot (optional extra)
Writing sessions in cafes and parks
A dinner, lunch, cocktail hour and other opportunities to meet, charm and bond with other writers from across Europe
We would love for you to join us! All are welcome, wherever you live.
Our venue

Friday and Saturday we will be at the beautiful Full Circle venue where we hosted our trial event in September 2024. You can read about that wonderful weekend, including attendee feedback, here. Sunday we will be out and about exploring Brussels.
The Salon
This year’s theme is Rooted, Unrooted through which we will explore writing in the context of:
Being from one place and finding belonging in another
Building intentional community in different places and ways
Consciously stepping outside our current confines to explore another
Celebrating significant places, whether that’s where we are or where we’ve been or where we want to go
Exploring what roots us and what can unroot us
The full programme is still in the works, but will include:
Friday evening: Join us for drinks, dinner and an open mic salon at Full Circle. Enjoy a delicious dinner and make new friends. Hear words from around Europe and maybe even read your own.
Saturday daytime: Join us for a choice of sessions. There will be panels, writing and craft sessions, readings, book discussions and more. You will be able to select your sessions in advance from a programme. For those who want, you can also join us for a delicious lunch (but there is also a pricing option without lunch, if you prefer to explore the area with your new friends!).
And because we’re a community, and our event is for writers, by writers, attendees will be invited to submit proposals to lead, host and join sessions.
Saturday evening: We are delighted to host British author Kit de Waal for an evening exploring our theme Rooted/Unrooted. Kit will read from her new book and join other exciting authors (to be announced!) in conversation about what roots us in places and literature and what can unroot us.
Sunday: Sunday we will be on the move! These sessions will take you out and about in Brussels in creative ways exploring the city and its parks, galleries, bookshops and more.
Options will include a tour of Brussels (an extra cost), writing in the park, psychogeographical writing, quiet cafe writing, a bookshop crawl, thrift store writing (and shopping), a book club and more. The formal programme will finish at 12pm to allow people to travel home.

We hope you will see what a fantastic city Brussels is and find inspiration in writing and exploring with others.
Our community
European Writers Salon is a non-profit organisation with the mission of Connecting Writers in Europe. We have a Steering Group of volunteers from across Europe (most pictured above) and a Management Committee you can read about here.
We are hoping to welcome 100-120 writers over this weekend. Everyone is welcome, no matter what you write, how long you’ve been writing, whether you’re published or where you’re from.
And if you’re afraid of not knowing anyone—don’t be! None of us knew each other when we arrived in Brussels last September, and now we’re fast friends, celebrating each others’ wins, sharing work and meeting up in each others’ cities. We’re a friendly bunch, and we hope you’ll find your community at EWS too.
The weekend will be hosted by members of our Steering Group: Kik Lodge, Tom Vowler and Moyette Gibbons. They, and we, look forward to meeting you.
Ticket information
We pride ourselves on our efforts to keep prices low so that as many people can attend. Basically, we cover our costs and that’s all. We’ve also tried to be flexible, recognising people have different needs.
Therefore we have four different ticket options (all including booking fees for transparency):
Full Weekend Tickets (this includes Friday night dinner and Saturday lunch): £211.97 (equivalent to c.€255)
Bursary Tickets (these are reserved for writers who would not otherwise be able to afford to come and are for the whole weekend, including Friday night dinner and Saturday lunch but at a reduced price): £60 (equivalent to c.€72)
We ask that writers only select the bursary ticket option if they cannot afford the full price. Bursary tickets are limited due to financial pressures. We will not ask for evidence of need.
Saturday and Sunday Only Tickets (including lunch on Saturday): £179.47 (equivalent to c.€216)
Saturday and Sunday Only (not including food): £157.80 (equivalent to c.€189)
NB Although we are a European-wide organisation, our social enterprise is constituted in the UK so prices are shown in pound sterling. For clarity, we have indicated equivalent prices in euros according to the current exchange rate.
The first 40 tickets will be sold at this Early Bird price, and then prices will rise.

Hello - Can you say approximately what time we need to be there Friday? Thanks!
This looks so good. Is accommodation included in the price?
